Family Preservation
Ron Haskins, staff director of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means, visited and observed our successful Family Preservation Program in operation. He was so impressed with our program, he sent us a letter in which he stated, “I cannot imagine that any community organization in the nation is doing more, hence provides a better example for those who want to learn about these vital cogs in the nation’s social policy, than Para Los Niños.”
In place since November 1996 and with the goal of preserving family unity, Para Los Niños’ Family Preservation Program delivers extremely intensive services to approximately 40 client families each month and 65 families each year. Children served by Para Los Ninos are at extremely high risk for abuse and/or neglect. This program strives to strengthen families who experience problems functioning as a healthy family free of child maltreatment or exploitation.
Participants receive a host of services including: 24-hour crisis intervention, in-home assessment and support, childcare, respite care, housing, substance abuse treatment/intervention and health care.
