Para Los Niños held their annual “Felices Fiestas” holiday family festival for over 1,000 children, youth, and adults December 15, 2018, at their Gratts Primary School location. Also in attendance were U.S. Representative Jimmy Gomez, State Senator Maria Elena Durazo, and Assemblymember Miguel Santiago and multiple celebrity guests from the Para Los Niños relationship with Feeding America.
“This event is an opportunity for our children and families to have a fun-filled day with each other to increase social connections and positive attachment during the holiday season,” said Andy Herod, event organizer and Para Los Niños, Vice President of Family and Community Services. “We are so thankful for the support of our staff, elected officials, volunteers, celebrity guests, and of course, the Walton Family Foundation and Disney for their investment to make this happen each year.” he added.
Guests were treated to dozens of activities, lunch, photos with Santa, and much more making the season bright for some of Los Angeles’s neediest children. All families are members of the organization who serves Los Angeles’s most vulnerable communities through education – starting at six-weeks – and wraparound support, including home visits, counseling, support groups, and more to empower and strengthen families and communities.
Feeding America brought several celebrity guest volunteers to help serve lunch and healthy options for beverages including: Julie Bowen, Darby Stanchfield, Samantha Harris, Eva LaRue, and Alexandra Shipp.
“This is one of my favorite things we do each year. It is such an incredible opportunity to share in the joy of this event and celebrate the extraordinary work of our families and community through the year,” said PLN President and CEO Drew Furedi. “I’m so appreciative of the care and support of our partners who make this happen and the dozens of dedicated volunteers who come each year to make this so magical for our children and families.”
